A Collaborative Separation/Divorce is one where the parties are agreeable to complying with the law or have negotiated something outside of the law that is fair otherwise.  This type of amicable relationship breakdown is much better for the family as a whole, as a variety of creative settlement options can be worked through as a team, rather than with correspondence between parties legal counsel back and forth.  Though this type of a collaborative separation does not work for everyone, with the new Court practice initiative in Manitoba, this type of separation is not only encouraged by the courts, but to an extent, mandated.
